Basic VIN information is available through CSV file delivery. This file includes VIN / Year / Make / Model for US Consumer and Light duty commercial vehicles 1981-present. Using the CSV file instead of the web service is probably the easiest way to perform VIN validation, or simply to decode to a basic level. This CSV file is also typically a better fit for solutions requiring less data, or simple VIN validation from both a cost standpoint.

At additional cost - trims, simple engine descriptors, transmission, bodytype and colors may be made available. Licensing costs are dependent on usage and distribution. If more information than the basic data points is required, this data can be delivered via the XML VIN service, or a series of advanced tables can be made available - see "Automotive Data."
